On June 23rd 2016 the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union, in what is and shall probably remain one of the greatest political upsets in British political history. The following day was one of disbelief and shock, where even the resignation of a Prime Minister ran as the second story in the news. I live in North London and the area where I live was particularly ardent in their support for the remain campaign, but that also lead it to be utterly shellshocked when the results came through on the morning.
These were some photographs I took on the 24th, the day after the referendum.

Even as the dust hangs in the air from this national bombshell the divisions in this already politically toxic debate stand only to get much worse. The vote is just the beginning. Whatever your position on this debate, when all the details are hammered out and the last laws and treaties amended, we will all be politically, culturally and economically poorer than before.
God might save the Queen, but the rest of us? That remains to be seen.
